Removing Plesk Horde IMP Left Menu Advertising / News Feeds

When you login to Horde Webmail under PLESK, You will surely notice that Parallels decided to use that area to put advertisements, So your main advantage over free email providers is gone.

How do i remove it (2 Ways, One by editing source files and the other from within PLESK control panel )

1- Horde under plesk is called PSA-Horde

You may be tempted to edit /usr/share/psa-horde/templates/portal/sidebar.inc and that should work all you need to do is edit the file like below

Find the line that reads

if (window.NewsFeeds) {

and make it

if (false) {

Unfortunately this will revert back to showing ads as soon as Horde gets updated, So what to do

Fortunately, and probably due to webmasters like me and you complaining, Parallels added the option to disable the left menu advertising in horde from within the PLESK pannel

In PLESK 9 (And 9.2), Go to settings on the Left menu (Logged in as PLESK admin) => Scroll down to Control Panel Interface / Interface Management => Interface Controls Visibility, you should find a "Do not show newsfeeds in Webmail and on default domain pages" checkbox, Put a check in the checkbox and click OK.

Surely, you can always disable this, and now you know how to put your own logo in it's place (in the /usr/share/psa-horde/templates/portal/sidebar.inc file)...

It is nice how advertising is now called News Feeds...
