Merging, Linking and Deleting Layers Palette

Merging The Layers: Well, to Merge layers you can do the following steps:

1. determine the layers that you want to merge, minimum 2 layers.

2. Go to the menu bar - Layer Menu - Choose one of the Merge Options

3. Merge Layers: This goes when you have selected minimum 2 layers in the layers palette. Merge Visible : This would merge all the visible layers in the layers palette. Flatten Image : This would merge all the layers available and make them all in one layer.

4. Tip: Notice that after merging the layers, you will lose the benefit of editing the used to be layers, so be careful to have a backup copy of the document before merging the layers, so you can go back to it and edit again in case anything happens.


Linking The Layers: 1. Go ahead and select the multiple layers that you want to link (minimum 2 layers)

2. Now click on the link layers icon on the bottom of the Layers Palette, or go to menu bar - layers - Link layers

3. You'll notice that the layers have a linked sign near them now.

4. to unlink you can reselect the layers again and do step 2 again.

Deleting Layers :

1. Select the layer/layers that you wish to delete

2. go to the trashcan icon at the bottom of the layer palette and click it

3. or go to menu bar - layer - delete - layer.

4. a pop menu will appear asking you if you want to delete the layer/layers
