The Select Menu

About the Selection Tools

In the Select Menu, there are the following submenus:

-All : by choosing the select all command you will select the whole image inside your workspace. -Deselect : this command will remove the selection you made on your image.

-Reselect : you can Re-do your selection by choosing the reselect command.

-Inverse : this command will give you a selection on the unselected part of the image while leaving the originally selected part unselected.

-All Layers : this command will select all the layers in the layer palette.

-Deselect Layers : it will remove the selection made on all layers.

-Similar Layers : this command will make a selection on the layers that have similar layer type for example (Masked layers, smart layers, and original layers).

-Color Range : selecting a specific color range or a color in an image.

-Refine Edges : it is the process of improving selection edges quality to make the editing process on the selection easier.

-Modify: it has a sub-menu that contains the following:

Border, it created an outer selection of the selected are, that looks like a border.

Smooth, it smoothes the selection's outer border.

Expand, it increases the size of the selection

Contract, it decreases the size of the selection

Feather, it creates a fading effect on the selected area. You can see the effect clearly when deleting or moving the selected area.

-Grow : this command will expand the selection and select the adjacent pixels that fall within the same tolerance range in the image.

-Similar : this command will expand the selection and select the pixels that fall within the same tolerance range. But the difference between this command and grow command is that that pixels that fall within the same tolerance range dont have to be adjacent.

-Transform Selection : this command will help you to transform, rotate, skew, etc.

-Load Selection : to bring back a previously saved selection.

-Save Selection : the process of saving a selection that you made to an image without saving the image itself.
