First, allow me to introduce some terms commonly used to describe an email service, we will assume you have already bought the domain name www.example.com.

1- Email Client: An email client is the program that stores and displays your mail, such as outlook express, outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail, etc... Web based email clients also exist that allow you to view your email in a browser window, this is also known as webmail.

2- Catch All: Assuming there are 3 email addresses under your domain, support@example.com, management@example.com and sales@example.com, Now assuming that support@example.com is marked as the catch all account, any email not addressed to the 3 addresses above will land in the support@example.com account, so if i send an email to the non existing email account fred@example.com it will end up in support@example.com.

Email addresses can be accessed in 1 of two ways, Either by an email client such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Windows Mail, Outlook, Or outlook express, Or by means of a webmail application that allows you to view your email in your browser window without the need to install anything on your PC.
