Shared web hosting is when you can have your website hosted on a server shared by many people, Other people can not see your files or your data from within, like anyone else they will have to visit it with there browsers to see it, But what shared web hosting means is that your website shares the server with other websites, and therefore you only get a part of the servers power and resources, While this is fine for small to medium traffic websites, this will probably not do for websites that receive many thousands of visitors per day.
